How do you use Boxwood Basil?
The little leaves of this variety make it easy to sprinkle the fresh flavor of basil on just about anything. Garden use Plant singly in containers, in mixed containers, or as an edging in garden. Culinary use In the kitchen, tender young stems can be used with the leaves.
Is Boxwood Basil a perennial?
Reputedly bred in France as a very flavorful pesto base, the "Boxwood" is a dense, compact plant, only growing to a height of a foot or less. Like other basils, it survives as a perennial in U.S. Department of Agriculture hardiness zones 9 to 11.
Are boxwoods edible?
All parts of a boxwood plant are poisonous. If the plants come in contact with human skin, it causes minor skin irritation that typically lasts for only a few minutes. If the leaves are eaten, they can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, convulsions and, in extreme cases, respiratory failure.
